The Folly inn up the medway is nice, just dont go up there on a falling tide. Lovely pub, nice snap.

See previous postings on Folly Inn. I for one would need a great deal of convincing to go back there.

I think you're thinking of the folly on the River Medina, upstream from Cowes, on the Isle of Wight

Sambo is talking about a place of the same name on the River Medway

You're right. I wish people would put location in the Subject line.

Unless you're a regular on the forums, you won't necessarily know the previous issues.

He posted in good faith, he (or she, I've made that mistake before) will learn these little details as time goes by.

That aside, it's nice to know that people are using this forum to post details of places to go without our in-built prejudices. I thought the same as you when I first looked at the post, and I'll bet many others did the same <s>

I was at the Folly (Medina) on Sunday.
Was pleasantly surprised. Food was good (crew pots are back on the munu) and the place looked to be getting back on track.

Spent Saturday and Sunday night on the visitors pontoons near the Folly but didn't use the pub. On Saturday walked the path along the river to Newport and had a very nice lunch and excellet pint at the Bargemans Rest. Well worth the 40 min walk, if you can dry out it's even better as you can tie up right outside!
