Hi All,

Hope you have all enjoyed the summer.... quick question, when we pump water out of our jabsco toilet it should go to the holding tank but instead it is going straight over board? is this because the tank is full?
also....( its a new boat by the way :-) we have a jabsco water 'pump' next to the holding tank.? now this could be something completely different to the toilet system but just wondered ?

any help for a land lubber appreciated

thanks

jay

There is most probably a diverter valve (or possibly 2) on the toilet discharge pipe - one way to overboard, the other way to the tank. The water pump is most likely the freshwater pump and not related to the toilet system, turn a tap on and see if the water pump operates.

ah ok, we thought it must have been full and was overflowing. i takie it most toilet systems have the option to pump straight overboard at sea and into holding tanks when inland.

It may not necessarily have a diverter valve. Some systems pump everything through the tank and it is only held there if you close the outlet seacock, or possibly a separate valve in the outlet from the tank.

But also... In a conventional system. If the tank is full AND there is an overflow, it will just pour out of the overflow. The overflow/vent is usually higher up on the hull and not underneath.
