My earlier post doesn't seem to be accesible so you may be wondering why the day looked good. In short, the sun was shining and we were off to Brooms to trial and survey the Ocean 37 we have an offer on.
Well, the day was great. We took the boat for a speed trial on the river and had up to 17 knots with the throttles wide open. Engine and turbo pressures were good and the temperatures rock steady. Bit like nuclear winter at first but the smoke finally cleared to tolerable levels. Engines sounded sweet as a nut and started easily. Port engine not quite as smooth as the starboard and smoked a little bit more - Surveyor not overly concerned but I will be getting an engineer to look them over.
No real horror stories on the survey. Bit of drama when the hoist broke down with the boat on it but the delay meant a lunch on Brooms in a local hostelry so no real problem.
Overall it looks as though she will be ours soon - can't wait!!
