The dark side - The pull is strong

Erm, mine's single engined, so is Littleship.

No problem moving yours with a dink & o/b strapped alongside. Little Ship might present more of a challenge, but perhaps possble with a Honwave, or similar, mini-rib in calm water & no wind situation. Rowing yours is also quite practical, where would you keep the oars? But Tom would need a crew of galley-slaves to row his I reckon, plus a lot of holes in the hull to put the oars thro'. :D

Do you stress about only having one engine? Or is it just that other people try to stress you? Boats used for fishing often have a small o/b on the stern for slow speed trolling (for fish - not the forum hobby).

Mmm, maybe but there's a hell of a lot of windage you know.

We have oars for the dinghy, but it'd be fun trying to row the boat against a breeze.

No, not at all stressed about it. Just find it interesting that from time to time the twin v single arguement arises regarding mobos but nobody seems to bother that raggies only have one.
I'll try and cut some holes for Tom this weekend ;)

Philliz,
Lack of wind is a given for me, otherwise & could use my handkerchiefs. I don't think your windage is a bad as mine with a longer cabin, large sprayhood & two big masts with rigging & furled sails on booms & I have moved Sea Rush around Dinorwic Dock with the dink & a 2hp o/b.

Now Julie Powerskipper, yes, note her forum name, is going sailing.

It has to stop. The raggies are getting our Mobers hooked on a different substance.

It's easy really, just switch off the engine & realise that your boat keeps going - just like magic, & that's exactly what it feels like.

The force is strong now, you will find it hard to resist. :p

Sailing, you will be, soon.

Ah ah, the word is spreading.

Interesting situation yesterday, raggie returning from Isle of Man suffered engine problems ( loss of oil pressure) when approaching Puffin Island. They managed to sail through the Strait, including The Swellies, without intervention but with an escort. They then sailed into the lock and came alongside the wall with only assistance in stopping the vessel by securing the lines. Once the lock gates opened they sailed up the dock and were secured safely in a berth.

Would a mobo have faired quite so well.

Excellent boat handling by the way Ian and Pauline!

Yer, no probs conked out in the Swellies a few times:o

Anyway
Me an Kilter moved a mobo (well a rib) with 'alternative means of propulsion' with no sweat tother day.
All the way across the Marina into a fierce wind taboot;)

Anyway
It WAS the main power cable what was kenackered Phil.
On stripping the physical 'burn out' could be seen!

Then another merry dance was led.
But the intrepid (tother Phill an Dave Manning) set to an found another dodgy bit of cable.
Enid made tea
I just 'fiddled' wiv me banjo and Kilter just rolled his eyes:rolleyes::D

Mmm, not sure a 110 Land Rover counts as 'alternative propulsion'

That's what we said innit? But didn't really want to believe it ;)

Yeah, don't stress about the rags & string, all you really need is the string . .

And a pontoon or dock wall to stand on while you pull.

No No, it was far too far for string
Then there were the winds to work out an we were paddling against the ebb!
Fortunantely both paddlers had at least Dazed Kipper theory knowledge at least.
Plus the added weight of a load of water in the hull
'Someone' had forgot to shut the seacock off overnight
OOPS:o

See, now if you'd have asked yer could've borrowed me trusty Mariner 2.5 for the voyage. Mind you, it's the first time there's been a couple of whores in action in the dock fer ages. ;)
