The cries of boats...

Plaintiff? Reminds me of my A-Level law...

As an engineer I can take or leave the imaginative stuff: can't you write something useful about galvanic corrosion between stainless and aluminium alloys?

Oh, here come the grammar police... The funny thing is she used to be an English teacher!
You do not have to read anything she writes, as you say, take it or leave it chap. :encouragement:

What an odd bunch you are still it takes all sorts to make our beautiful world. Be awful if we were all the same. My mum used to say if you can't say anything nice then say nothing at all.

When using dissimilar metal
It's something I surely would bet'll
Cause you trouble and strife
For your whole boating life
Regardless of how you might fettle.

Well you got what you wanted, she is't going to post any more.
Great way to make a new female member feel welcome, well done chap.

I like to think that I live in two worlds, that of reality and that of the imagination. The latter includes such items as dreams and fancies, beauty, art, ethics and for those who want it, religion. I have no problem keeping these apart, unlike engineers who are lacking part of their functioning brains. I look forward to her next contribution and hope that she noticed that there was an element of tongue-in-cheek about what she took as criticism, and that the poster(s) concerned have also already been put in their place.

Please keep posting I enjoy reading things that I am unable to think of nor write down.

Just take the comment as being about his own inadequacies and other problems he can not face. At least you do not live with such a narrow outlook, you are more fortunate than that.

I thought there were a lot more positive posts on Mrs Solent Clown's POV than the other; BTW I know LangstoneLayabout pretty well, I happen to know he has a soul after something happened to a previous boat of his, maybe it touched a nerve or maybe he was being tongue in cheek.

yes, benefit of the doubt is always better in these two dimensional online conversations where things can go so easily awry.
And of course, as said before, he is an engineer. You have to love an engineer

This should make you chuckle. It is even used in schools now

Wow! I didn't mean to be perceived as rude, but the older I get the more I tell it as I feel it.

I'll rephrase it to: As an engineer I can take or leave the imaginative stuff. Could I please ask her politely if she could please write about galvanic corrosion between stainless and aluminium alloys?

I had a hard time with English lang & lit at school. The best bit about the school was leaving.

I also know the thing about getting older and being perceived as rude and things I meant to be funny taken seriously. The idea of somebody who can use words to make the problem stuff seem not as bad is great.
I usually just swear at this stuff.

I never did get the English at school and agree about the best bit, I did enjoy the holidays though.

Please don’t go away Mrs Clown. I think you write beautifully and I’m sure that LL was only being funny. It’s easy to perceive a note of criticism where none exists on these fora ( new word stolen from here) as i know from my previous posts. Best to read them again a couple of days later and they don’t seem rude at all.

I wrote on here once that I often think of the boat as a stabled horse, gently shifting from one foot to the other while waiting to be taken for a good gallop.
