The change from winter sailing to spring sailing.

Spring cleaning beckons too. Wash and polish in the sunshine needs care so you dont miss a bit.

New house batteries ordered. New dinghy ordered. So its not a cheap spring!

Coldest day here since October when it dropped to 13 degrees C.

14 C today at 10 AM, 18C at 4 PM. We walked over the Miramar Peninsular headland this afternoon, windy but warm - perfect walking weather. Took in the WW1 and WW2 gun positions protecting Wellington Harbour.

One interesting snippet was that just about the first shot in WW2 was from there. A British cargo ship, just a couple of hours after war was declared, failed to respond to a challenge from the battery. A shot was put across its bows, whereupon it responded.

The Master was taken to Court and fined 40 quid - the cost of the shell!

I remain hopeful of soon being able to make the transition from no sailing to any sailing!
I'd just like a day calm enough to get my sails on. Then I can service the engine because they're blocking access.

At least I've inflated my LJs for a week and they're all OK but I did have the expense of changing all the auto cartridges, though.

We at last looking forword to start our sailing season , with some luck next week .
Our worried are with cruisers starting to return back to their boats from all over the world if any case of this coronavirus is found in the marina it will get shut down and god know when we leave . Much safer our at anchor .:)

Well I bought a boat for my first season but it is in Guernsey and my crew can only really help on weekends and the weekend channel weather has all been at well above my pay grade. Am not doing my first actual sailing for years in a new boat in an F6-7 with 4m waves up the chuff for 10 hours.
