Does anyone know of a GRP yacht tender (available in the UK) that's
about 10ft long but splits into two halves so that the bow stows inside
the stern section? I've come across a superb one called a Nicholls Lite
but it's only available in the US.

I already know about all the options on folding and marine ply tenders
but it's specifically a GRP tender that I'm looking for. I want a 10ft
dinghy but can only fit a 7" dinghy on my coachroof. I'm going blue
water cruising so whatever tender I have will get some hard use.

Any advice and contacts would be much appreciated.

Chris.

An article appeared on PBO, the title was something like "Sawing her in two".
I am afraid I don't remember how long ago. The Author literally cut a small (grp?) dinghy in two halves, separated by a double bulkhead and thus floating individually. The two parts could be stowed one inside the other. The result looked good.

V interesting question and we're doing some of the same research. We also want one that is our liferaft (a la Pardeys etc) and so v easy to launch and rig.

So far we've found two intersting possiblities. One is a swifgig, which we saw on show at Soputhampton last year, but have never yet had a chance to sail one. They have a distributor in Chrstchurch and are at swifgig.com. The otehr is the Fatty Kneees, which the Pardeys have and sail by, but I don't know if they do a nesting one.

We'll be really itnerested in your researches!
