Right then Boys and Girls, we can stop all this squabbling about Col Regs here and now. Its simple...

Green to Green, Red to Red,
Perfect safety, straight ahead.

If in danger, or in doubt,
SCREAM, and wave your arms about.

This was taught to me by a Master Mariner of some 40 years experience. So there it is. Any more "rules" are merely heresay and conjecture.

Rant postings.

A good many of these Coll Reg postings aren't questions at all, just people letting off steam when they think they've been carved up.

What you need here are not rules, but a good bedside manner: "Well I never, did they really? Only your lightning reflexes and superb seamanship saved a major incident! Shame about the memsahib's G&T going down the bilge. Yes, you were TOTALLY justified in blasting your foghorn as loud as you could until the gas ran out and putting out a Pan Pan to protest to Solent Coastguard about their disgraceful behaviour."

If sailing boats is what you do
and a great big ship's a comin for you
The best way to live for another day
is to shout b****x to the regs
and get out of the way.

Boat rage has arrived...

...alas.

(sez he, as he steps into his company car and sets off to drive 80 miles down the A13, M25 and A12...road rage...moi?!)

So...

"Here lies the body of Johhny O'Day
Who died maintaining his Right of Way
He was right, dead right, as he sailed along
But he's just as dead as if he'd been wrong."
