Boat is booked to come out on Friday and I had a half day off today, so in the pouring rain and force 5 occ 6 Ne that we have I went out for my last sail of the 'Summer'. 'Twas only a couple of hours but even in the rain it was a blast. So called waterproofs are definitely not, and now added to the Christmas wish list.
Now for a long winter pinning for a sail . . . . . . . anyone need a crew this winter :)

That'll teach you to live in them there ruff islands ;)

Just had mine out, antifoul & back in for some nice winter sailing :)

The last two years i have enjoyed winter sailing, nice and peacefull and better weather, but i have just sold my boat,i was only testing the water and advertised in "Boats and Outboards" and this person came for a sail last week and offered me the full asking price, (i wish i had asked for more) just waiting for the money to arrive should be on thursday,

I have been told the happiest times in boating are when you first buy a boat, and then when you sell it,so why do i feel so sad and confused?

I am on the lookout for another boat so i should be busy this winter.

I still have the sun tan from my last summer sail, the weekend before last. Three nights anchored in Newton creek, blissful, spoiled only by a regular complaint from the swmbo who was chastising herself for not packing a swimming costume.

Bah humbug. Southern softies. Our boats don't come out til after the Boxing Day Race!

I had my best sail days during the winter. It is more civilized, and the wind is more stable not gusting all the time.

How do you protect the boat from freezing up? Our boat will stay in the water over the winter, but the engine and water systems will all be winterized, thus rendering her unusable.

Antifreeze in the closed circuit water system, rest stay's as is.
There is a low temperature thermostat controlled heater in main cabin & a dehumidifier, leave all doors fixed open. :)
