Quite separately from the break-down thread I want to thank Martin and his son James.

They shovelled down their dinner, drove over to Val Wyatt, brought their boat down to Shiplake Lock.........and towed me back to T&K. James' boat handling skills were exceptional, especially at his age. You were pretty spectacular, young man.

We arrived at T&K about 8.45pm and they then set off in the remains of the daylight to go all the way back to Val Wyatt.

Apart from being completely humbled by their kindness and support, I'm embarrased at my cluelessness about engines.

There were calls from Boat One and Lenseman with further help as well: much appreciated gentlemen.

I hope to have an opportunity to reciprocate.

Simon

Glad you are both back safely(apart from the dangers SWMBO represents;))

These forums and members are quite something:cool:

Riggy has offered to take a trip to my appartment to get a quote for some welding on the balcony(2 of) and take some photos..........in SPAIN.

So yep, there are some very helpful people around these parts.

Hope you get the boat sorted..take care and sleep with one eye open:D

 That's not nice........hoping they break down so you can return a favour......nasty Scouser, you.

It was no problem, just a nice adventure and skills training.

And its not so valiant anyway, your boat is now ours under Salvage rules

:D You should have put in your claim on Saturday night: I would have handed over the keys there and then :D

Thanks again, Martin: hope you arrived back safely.

um...I...err.....that wasnt quite what I meant

Tush, tush chaps; no scrapping.

Mr. Watson,

It is incumbent on you to report back to the assembled masses on here exactly what was the cause of the failure - need to know whose diagnosis was right (or not)

I shall indeed once the patient has been brought out of coma and is once again mobile.
