... to all Scuttlebutters who came up with ideas, helpful suggestions, and compliments in the thread "Safety on the sea". We don't have the exclusivity on original thought.

Come and see us at SIBS.

You\'ve blown my cover!!!

Although it was a fairly thin one!

I tried to keep two identities on these boards, I wanted to post as a yottie, and didn't want to be the official voice of the RNLI, and get dragged into the time-consuming activity of contributing to all the debates that it attracts - hence "chuns", my nickname.

I posted as Peter Chennell on RNLI business, in my capacity as SeaSafety Manager, I post I have held for 18 months. The logistics function seems to be running fairly smoothly now, at least that is what I am led to believe, so no, no more involvement in spares.

Except that I do know we've got some Aruns for sale at £150k - never raced or rallied, one careful lady owner.

Have fun on the Cherbourg bash, BTW.

All the best...

Re: RNLI

Went aboard the Buckie RNLI lifeboat during the Portsoy traditional boat festival. I was most surprised how rolly it was even when alongside the harbour wall.

Re: RNLI

I had a crawl through the engine room of the Calshott lifeboat brought round to Shamrock Quay a couple of weeks ago. It was shortly after they had arrived and apart from being quite dark and cramped down there the heat was unbearable. The thought of trying to fix a problem with an engine in there when rolling around in a heavy sea doesn't even bear thinking about. Hats off to those guys
