Notice it says the number of power boats registered is up 250 on the same period last year.
However, no breakdown of types and sizes and no mention as to whether the total revenue is up given the hike in licence fees.
Do these numbers include Gold Licences for NB's on BW ?

Perhaps StewartC could obtain some more detailed analysis?

They appear to be very careful to only refer to numbers and not revenue income.
Whichever, they'll spin it to not have to backtrack you can be sure.

Hi Tony,

Figures are just for motorboats falling under the privately owned powered launch category (Class N). No gold licences are included in the 250-boat increase.

Have been told information on boat sizes etc... is "not readily available".

My in laws could not moor in Abingdon last week as every single mooring on both sides occupied by Narrowboats and nobody invited them alongside.

Why was Abingdon so busy, no relation to it being a free mooring at all!

Henley always has room, but you have to pay there.

If this continues and the problem grows, theres not much point paying more and more license fees, when you run aground every where (due to no dredging) and cannot moor anywhere due to "continous cruisers".

Friend of mine in Abingdon last week suggested to a NB that they might breast up, the reply was that they hadn't thought about it and didn't think it was the thing to do.
They did manage to get in below the bridge though.
Nothing on the river yesterday, cruised from Shillingford to Caversham and shared only Mapledurham. Even Beale Park had few boats riverside.

Re: no-one about

Clivedon had the usual numbers - no room on the islands :-(

Even found a (small) queue coming back through Boulters, quite unusual these days. (mind you that might have something to do with who was working the lock - a certain Turbo 36 owner I'm sure you know Ian.)
