Have you seen the on line test on the RNLI web site. OK its not exactly hard but, the kids enjoyed it. This got me thinking, I want to do the yachtmaster theory, has anyone got experience of these on line/correspondance courses. Being a busy publishing magnate at I PEE AT SEA publishing. seriously tho, I dont get time to do the night school thing.

You could try the Longbow Sail Training "Complete Course". This is available on CD-ROM, is endorsed by RYA, and covers Competent Crew, Day Skipper and Yachtmaster courses. There is quite a bit of saily stuff, but also plenty to interest moatorboaters.
You can just load it into the PC and either study the content, or take one of the many test exercises which are based on RYA question papers. It's probably not as comprehensive as a proper course (I wouldn't know), but it's dead handy to nip in and out of when you have a spare hour or so. Costs about forty quid from Waterstones. (online).

There are postings and contacts some months back findable with the search facilty, or google for them.

.......No, this doesn't work. The word "serious" seems to be short for "deadly serious" means that you won't be pleasant, lightly good-humoured, raps even unable to forgive speelings or typos. Worst of all, what's in in for anyone to help or contribute to Mr Serious? A friend, a laugh, a thankyou? probly not.

Re: Picky Picky.....

..... it was a little experiment conducted for myself. Now i posted this, when, roughly 24 hours ago. It got one "serious" reply and your reply which is serious, but then goes onto pass judgement on the heading, which i agree with you wholehartedly, now if it had been under another heading altogether with a bit of a light hearted twist, then i could almost gaurentee that the response would have been much greater, although it did prompt another thread, the one above, but again this was on a "SERIUOS" note, and again only prompted only one reply (and that was from I Pee at SEA Publishing) ie me.

Is this the sort of forum that we could look forward to if it was split as proposed by Mr Hollamby, or is that byron, I think yes. and what a dreary place it would be, maybe you think likewise, maybe not, i dont want to go over old ground but in a small way i think ive proved the point, at least to myself if noone else.

Now im gonna take the serious hat off, and lets get back to the way things have been all along,
