on a marine theme there is also a sort of seaweed called "Pelvicia Canilickulater" I can't remember how it was spelt exactly but our rather dodgy biology field trip teacher was very keen on telling us "interesting" facts like that.....I wont go in to what he told us about barnacles.

Yes, it is some sort of metallic stuff named from the town Cummington, in US.

Wonder if the good burghers of Cummington put their tongues in their cheeks when this was named?

Amphiboles are asbestos type minerals such as crocidolite and amosite so if you find any knocking around don't go sniffing it.
