I have an Iridium satphone (9505) with data kit that was working perfectly when last used, but the SIM has expired and the battery is not taking a charge.

I want to sell the phone because SIMs are so expensive and put any money towards buying an InReach. I don't expect to get a whole lot for the phone, but am happy to buy a new battery to confirm the phone powers up. I am not prepared to purchase a SIM with 75 minutes on it valid for a month however just to test that calls can be made, because I would not get enough for the phone to justify my investment.

Any suggestions?

Usually if the phone powers up, receives a GPS status and a no service it is communicating with a satellite and all is well. I think proving that status is good enough to sell it.
