I have searched the forums for info on Tenerife but as we all know the search facility is pretty poor.
I have also PM'd a couple of people who had Canaries as their location but I thought I would also post here to get some more opinions.

We will be arriving in Tenerife in mid November and we are looking for a safe marine berth for around a month while we have to go back to the UK. We originally decided upon Radazul but due to needing flights back earlier than planned we are now looking nearer the airport.
Done a fair bit of research and have come up with: -
Las Galletas
Los Gigantes
Las Americas
Los Cristianos
If anyone could add to the list or give us some more info on the ones listed above such as security, cost, availability etc we would be grateful.
Many thanks

Try the new one, San Miguel. Its near the south airport and probably the only place you will get a visitors berth on the island anyway. The worst island for sailing in my opinion!
Not yet finished but had a good few empty berths when I was there in January.
Good luck.

Found some piccies.

Couple of them not too good, took them from behind glass screens in restaurant on top of marina office. Very friendly place. A sailing school operates from there...?? Clubsail??

Try marina in nearby Gomera.
Why not stop in Graciosa and fly back from Lanzarotte? Graciosa is cheap, beautiful and easy to get to Lanzarotte by ferry. Graciosa is mostly used by transients so unlike other busy places you should get in easily. You will not find it easy to contact the HM there (if he is there!) to pre book. Canary Island marinas are notoriously "full" and/or do not answer emails!
Another thought - marina in south of Lanzarotte seems to have plenty of space.
If you do go to Teneriffe bus service is excellent and you can get to both airports very easily. Whether you can find any space for your boat is a different issue.
Good luck.

Stick with Radazul. Its far better than any of the alternatives you mention. A nice, well-run, safe marina. Worth shelling out the extra for the long taxi-ride to the airport. It can be done by bus with a couple of changes.

To the SW, Gomera is possible, but make sure you get a decent berth well in away from the swell. Las Galetas, Los Gigantes, Los Christianos, are all definitely out for different reasons - do NOT consider them as safe places to leave your boat. (If you aren't bothered about security, ashore at Los Christianos is cheap, but space is in short supply). Las Americas could be OK but (like Radazul) it is a private marina and I was told to get lost when I tried to visit some years ago.

Radazul was pleasant enough when we were there in early 2007 but has had a couple of less enthusiuastic reports since.

San Miguel has excellent facilities, is ten minutes from the airport and has 24 hour security.

Would disagree about Las Galletas, I had no problems there at all though in a southerly a bit of swell can cause some surging. Not too expensive (about the same as San Miguel), showers OK, marinero there 24h a day. And a nice little town on your doorstep. Christianos expensive now on the hard as well, yard OK but the town doesn't care about boats at all, talk of moves afoot to get rid of boats moored cause "it spoils the view"...

San Miguel marina sucks.

As does the entire south end of Tenerife.

Why not Las Palmas? Cheaper, and you might meet someone Spanish...

My trouble with las Palmas is that I will be arriving around 10 days prior to the ARC leaving so the the chances of a berth are basically nil. Once the 225 ARC boats have left I might well go and have a look.
Thanks

I was happy with San Miguel marina, and will certainly return there. It's certainly the closest to Tenerife South Airport. I stayed in Gran Tarajal marina on Fuerteventura during the ARC season rush, there was plenty of space.
