There was a gaff rigged yacht here in Looe once called 'Fanny' and the dinghy was called 'Tender Fanny' !! it always caused a laugh with the visitors.

Our last tender was "Foinaven tt Colymbus"
So we have a Scottish hill as tender to a defunct seabird genus.
It was because we carried the dinghy forward......so no logic or humour there then - typical.

We called our boat "Santana" mainly as a reference to Humphrey Bogart's beautiful S&S - I'm a fan of his and of Lauren Bacall, and we have a picture up in our saloon of them at the helm of their boat.
Hasn't stopped me from naming our tender "Abraxus" and the inflatable "Carlos" though.
We previously bought a Tinker with the lovely name "Little Knot" which had been tender to a Bowman "Second String", so tried to follow the theme through with our other dinghies naming them "Short Strop" and "Time Warp".
When our girls were younger I tried to encourage them into sailing by calling the Mirror dinghy "Misty Oar" (pronounced Miss Dior).
