Hi,

As I have only a 24 foot boat the only place I can stow the tender is on the bow which is not ideal. I am thinking of possibly getting one of these tenders as they stow down to 89 x 52 x 28 cm , does anyone know what they are like? Or have a better suggestion?

Thanks in advance.

I had a Bombard AX 2 in a Monterey 250, packed up into its bad and it would sit neatly in a locker under one of the forward lockers, did the job nicely and with a little 3.3hp Mercury outboard would plane with 1 in it!

We used to have a much larger dingy which we stowed on the bow and not only was it a bit of a pain trying to access the the bow it meant now choice but to stand up while helming.

We have just purchased a 6ftx4ft rigid tender made by funyak with an electric outboard. As our boat is only 25ft we needed a small tender. As it is rigid it means we can stand it on the bathing platform and strap it to the grab rail on the back whilst we are trapping along and then tow it whilst pottering around on the rivers. The other benefit is that as they dont have the large inflatable air bladders you get more room inside the boat.

The only downside we have found is you can have any colour you wnat as long as it is green!

what do you want to use it for? Its just it might get too small for the job.. or -depending on where you are- water taxis might be another idea?
Id suggest an electric pump for the volume (if not the pressure). Usually a cheapo one is ok, and the finish off wih the footpump.
Its not much use on the foredeck underway, as too often you cant get it securely tied down, and if you can, you cant see past it! Could store it flat I suppose, unrolled, bcz rolled into a bag, they never seem that small. You might manage to tie it onto the swim platform.. even some rope will do;neednt snap davits. Just do consider that it might look small in the shop, but it suddenly seems damn big when moving it about on your boat!
Main issue seems to be that if you need to pump it up, and down, you end up not bothering with it.

We used to keep a 2.4m tender inflated and tied across the back of our old Maxum 2300. Nver really an issue once you work out what to tie it to. The other options are snap davits or deflating it. A decent electric inflator will blow up a small tender in a couple of minutes, so that may be your best bet if you don't need it all the time. How big is that Plastimo, BTW?

Its dimensions are 240 x 156 x 42cms. Never been a fan of snapps as they glock up the back of the boat when you are back at the berth and they must cause drag or am I wrong? I was going to blow it up when we needed it. I have alread got a 12v electric pump.

The tender will be used to going ashore when we anchor in bays. The bristol channel has a very high tide range so I dont want to beach and you can not see what you are driving into as the water in not clear.

I looked at that boat to store deflated, and inflate with electric pump when I want to use it. I think i'm going to get the Lodestar Superlight 240 instead though, as they get very good reports, but if you're happy with your last Plastimo, then this should be fine.
