I am about to make our replacement awning, and would like to use Tenara thread. I usually buy my supplies from Kayospuce, but they don't stock it yet, and I need to get an order in, so that I can complete the project in the next couple of weeks.

Has anyone else successfully sourced this? If you have, could you share your source details?

Sailrite stock it, though it's in the US... you might try solentsew.co.uk their UK agent ?

Thanks. I had already looked on their website, but can't find anything suggesting they stock it. I have sent them an email, enquiring, and I'll report back, when they respond.

Any other suggestions? Unfortunately, I don't have time to wait for delivery from the States, this time around.

We buy ours from Contender sailcloth ,try them in Segensworth too. If they won't supply direct I can order it and get it sent direct.

Thank you so much Cindy.

I have just emailed Contender, and will follow up tomorrow. If they are unable to deal directly with me, I could well take you up on your offer.

On a slight aside, do you find Tenara much superior to the more usual Dabond threads?

Cindy - Thanks for your steer. I have spoken with Contender this morning and placed an order for delivery tomorrow.

Allegedly, it takes a little bit of tweaking to get the machine set up correctly, as the thread properties differ from the more usual UV resistant polyesters. Standby for grumpy posts bemoaning the impossibility of it all. :)

For completeness, Roberto, Sailrite don't stock it.

To clarify: Solentsew don't stock it.

It is somewhat expensive, but has an impressive durability guarantee. All of the stuff I make is permanently in the Tropics, where the UV conditions are brutal, so I'm content to pay the premium. I'll still use the polyester UV resistant stuff on cockpit cushions etc., and other small, bits I could easily re-stitch, but not on anything regularly exposed to the sun.
