have we heard any updates on teddington? we are looking to go out for a day in a week or so in and out on HW on the same day does anyone know if bookings are available only at certain times of the day?

I came through inward bound from Brentford on tide on Monday (arrived Teddington almost exactly at high tide) and was politely informed by the lady lock keeper that I would only be able to return to the tideway if I came back within an hour. Boat is going to Cookham so no need to get back on the tideway in my situation.
Teddington lock guidance might have changed since then.

"As things stand we have bookable windows available between 13.30-15.30 this coming Friday and 2 further windows next Monday and Friday that tie in with the tide and CRT opening times at Brentford.
Recreational journeys such as the one you have described are not possible right now, however I hope this will change and there will be more information about a more regular service in the coming weeks."

I have had this boat less than a month, used it about 5 times. If I cant use Tedd lock anytime soon it restricts my boating to Tedd / Richmond.
If this is the case it's going on the market and I doubt very much I will be back in the market for one. I should have listened to my self and the many years of 'in the trade' experience and not gone ahead!!!
It just makes no sense for Tedd to be closed and the rest open. I do know the reason but I am not going to post it here.
I'm deeply involved in my own companies back to work/office policy and there is no justifiable reason for it to be closed based on my knowledge of safety procedures.

No I'm with you @Old Crusty we are loving the fact that90% is open and can get an escape of the same 4 walls of lock down however i don't see any issue with social distancing for the lock keeper as boaters would stay with their boats ad the lock keeper can well away on the controls there is no reason for them to come anywhere near 2 meters of each other.
the PLA is open and can get through Richmond so frustrating they are restricting passage, clearly the lock keeper isnt furloughed as they are allowing transit so what are they doing the rest of the time?

At RCC we are now allowed to bring in staff in mixture of part time and furlough ! this suits us fine and is simple regards admin.

So Teddington only open Monday and Friday at high tide with the blessing of the EA so if you are moored on the tidal Thames and can’t get back on the same day tide you are stranded for a week . what a Joke who do the EA think there kidding with the social distancing !!! all to do with any boat going up has paid their pound of flesh.

They are not committing to a date but others have suggested it maybe the 4th if not before.
My worry then is the sheer volume of plastic traffic. Swimmers, lidel kayaks, cheap inflatables. By the hundreds ! 100 plus paddle boards today plus swimmers going side to side (I pulled a 10 year old out FFS on her third dunk under). Open Tedd to Rich to commercial traffic and there’s going to be a serious issue with those hundreds , possibly Thousands using the river like never before.
It’s both delightful and terrifying.

I wonder if the swimmers have read EA 1993 Byelaw 63(e).
And public access land law which specifically prohibits swimming in non tidal rivers.

Byelaw 63(e)? No chance! You must remember that they have rights, it's all about them, not you or us, just them.
Perhaps a gentle reminder that Thames Water and other water companies not to mention certain permanently moored boats discharge treated sewage water and, allegedly, untreated raw sewage into the River Thames. The river has at least 60 different types of bacteria in it that will cause all manner of intestinal and neurological diseases.

Now have 14 fenders on the boat......will this be enough.......
Have changed all the stickers on the boat, we are now a Princess 25.
As pubs and restuarants will all still be closed have stocked up with loads of baked beans and beer.
Have bought an Admirals hat with lots of scrambled egg and all the crew will be forced to wear matching technical gear in matching shades of Puce with large logos announcing they cost a fortune prominantly displayed on them.
Have a crib sheet of nautical terminology to shout at crew as we enter/depart locks.
Any other preparations we need to consider. ?
See you all on the 4th.
Ps. Have photocopied a list of all the posters who have complained about lockies . esp those not cleaning the weed off lockchamber walls .Will hand these out as we go.
