I am trying to remove the top (hob) plate on a Techimpex Mastergrill cooker (two burners, separate grill and oven) so I can replace one of the thermocouples (flame failure devices). I have removed the four large corners screws successfully but when I try to slide the top plate back and off, a vertical plate on the underside of the top plate jams up against the main gas delivery pipe, and won't go any further. I have applied a reasonable amount of force to try to ease it over but still no success. Any more force, and I'll bend/break something. Does anyone know how to get this top plate off? Thanks.

Bumping... Has nobody any advice on how to get the top off this cooker? The item I am trying to remove is item 42 in this parts diagram which has been so exploded as to render it useless for disassembly purposes. Having had another look at the cooker, it looks like the grill has to be disconnected somehow, as there is a solid metal pipe running from the control valve (stays put) to the grill (comes off with the top).

I took a similar Techimpex apart to sort out the air supply to the grill because it was burning with a red smoky flame. It was a good few years ago so I can't remember exactly. I think I disconnected the grill by removing the the two screws at either end of the grill vent, but I don't remember having any particular problem taking the top off.

I took a couple of photos but they were of some kinks in the gas supply pipe from the grill control and don't show anything else useful.

Thanks, that's very helpful. I had been thinking the grill assembly came off with the top like the hob burners but can now see that it makes sense to leave it in place when removing the top. The vertical plate I mentioned may well be connected to the grill and end up no longer being a problem. Will have a look next time I am on the boat, probably tomorrow.
