I am looking at getting some teak on my bathing platform, problem is the main dealer want to charge more than the arm and the leg I am prepard to pay, I have had a quote for flexi-teak stuff supply and fit which is a third of the origional price, but before I go ahead, I wanted to know what you thought of flexi-teak over real? and also if you can point me in the direction of some other companies who supply and fit teak

Have'nt got a clue about flexi teak, but Real teak is good because you just wash it with sea water. Looks better as well. All IMHO

I have had a couple of panels made of Flexiteak for the 'steps' off the passarelle into the aft cockpit. On just looking it is difficult to tell from real. Easy to maintain, but will not get that nice weathered look that the real stuff gets. I wouldn't use it for decks, but bathing platform etc., I would have thought would be ideal.

What is Flexi-teak? Sounds like one of those genetically modified teak/rubber trees!

I was looking at flexi-teak for my boat, I got a quote but it was over £2k, although it seemed to be a superb product, I felt that I could not really justify the cost. You can either have it made to measure an fitted at their place or do it yourself getting it in strips. It will never be teak, but seems to be a modern easy clean solution to the teak look IMHO

If your boat is already plastic, a bit more plastic will be fine. Why bother with real wood.
