Hi All,

Does anyone know of a contractor who can do repairs to teak decks?

Have a few areas of the teak that need to be repaired on the swim platform and steps leading into the cockpit.

Many thanks

Andy

Andy, did you get this done? Who did you use? I need to find a teak contractor for my new bathing platform, and I'm looking for recommendations.

Cheers

Jimmy,

Elessar of this parish arranged to have a repair done on my bathing platform a couple of years ago with good results. Maybe a pm to him will help.

Hi Jimmy,

Did it myself in the end.

Just made templates and carefully removed the existing teak.

Have you considered synthetic?

Regards

Andy

Thanks Andy - I quite like the idea of synthetic teak, but given the cockpit is real teak, I think I need to try and keep it all the same material. (Well done for the diy, btw)

I would consider DIY, not as hard as you would imagine, the hardest part I found was finding enough suitably sized weights to hold it all down

Had that challenge when laying the wheelhouse floor and cockpit deck. The answer was all around me, water! I used begged and borrowed as many buckets as possible including some tall ones and old resin barrels, with good results. Best to lay boards first then stand the buckets on the boards to get even pressure. Your anchor and chain also come in handy. Buckets are light to carry, you can fill them at the last minute. In my case the boat was in the water so it was really easy.
