Greetings fellow rovers....been a little while...hope you are all well.

My cockpit floor consists of 3 removable sections of what appears to be 20mm marine ply with teak laid on top in the usual attractive fashion. The teak strips are not thick, about 7mm.

About a year ago the caulking failed and the strips have come away in parts from the substrate. Some of the strips have started to twist. The ply is not in good condition.

My local timber merchant does some rather pricey marine ply in 18mm which may be a suitable replacement. I understand the arguments about ply and the varying qualities and ways to finish it.

My question is about the teak...

I can salvage the teak from the existing ply panels and most will no doubt clean up. However am I wasting my time trying to re lay teak that has warped??

Thanks.

This is my floor I made from 18mm WBF ply with 8mm thk Iroko and jacaranda glued on top then sanded with a belt sander.

If your teak strips are in good conditions I don't see why you cannot reuse the existing.

As for the warped strips a lot of my Iroko was warped but properly clamped and glued it should be OK

I've never done it and and not even tempted - well, not often, but I'd guess that once hull and deck are done, you're at about 1/3 of the work and 1/4 of the money. If you're lucky

People keep asking how much did it cost and my answer is alway "I don't wish to know"
