Hi All,

I just want to share (Hope the mods don't mind). I recently had some teak effect carpet fitted on my boat. I was thinking of doing the flexi-teak stuff but found this and found it's a lot cheaper so went for it. It looks amazing and feels so nice.. bit unusal to have carpet outside but It's apparently waterproof and is doing well so far so yup so pleased with it. Highly recommend.

I've attached a picture below (hopefully). There's a website here with more details: www.marinetuft.co.uk.

Matter of opinion and taste.
Subjectively I think that all imitations are just that; never as good as 'the real thing'.
Objectively I note that the material is polypropylene; that does not last long with the high levels of UV where I live (Central Mediterranean).
As they say, it's the buyer's money and the buyer makes his choice.

The sales chaps said it's installed all over the world and on lots of mega yachts. It's also made in Australia and is UV and salt resistant.. I guess you are right, time will tell but I'm well happy so far.

Looks a lot easier to clean than trad teak :)

It shouldn't really go green as it's all mould resistant etc.. but to clean I'm told just brush or hover it.. if it needs a clean it can be hosed down (and then brushed). They said it shouldn't be pressure washed though as that will kill it.. but a hose and a brush is all it needs apparently. I've not done anything with mine but it is under the cover.

How much a square metre ?
cheers

That does look good ..... but I wonder how long it will take to dry out once it gets a good soaking?

We have a big rubber backed mat with our boat name across it in the cockpit but we move it aside once the rain comes down as walking on wet carpet an hour or two after the rain has stopped is not very helpful.

You can get artificial lawn in the same material which has the distinct disadvantage that you cannot tell when it goes green.

Don't suppose the OP works for the supplier do you? ... No, surely not!

No idea what you mean...(where's the shocked emoticon.. followed by the angel emoticon!)..

The price really does depend on the complexity of the fitting... they try to reduce the cost by squeezing patterns in together.. it is a premium product and is imported from Australia but it's still a good 50% cheaper than most alternatives.
