Are there any new products available to clean/preserve teak decks? Has anyone had experience with the A-Glaze system or anything else that performed well?
Just wondering what to do this winter as my boat is in a shed so have the opportunity to do a good job.

No scrubbing, just mix with water, spay on and go home.

As Dylan says. After years of gently sponge cleaning the decks on hands and knees to remove green mould - with limited impact other than wrecked back - I took the forum advice and switched to Patio Magic last winter.
Painted on a small area first, then the rest of the decks - as it was, well, MAGIC ! No effort and pristine clean

I will be trying this on my boat, grubby teak everywhere!
What ratio of water/patio magic?
Does it affect fibreglass/alloy fittings?

4 parts water to one part magic., higher concentration if really bad. Spray on and LEAVE, do not wash off. It doesn't hurt GRP, fittings etc.

+2 Patio magic or buy the active ingredient at 50% strength from eBay if you need a lot .

Benzalkonium Chloride if I remember correctly. Might be advertised as BAC 50.

I think Patio Magic is around 7.5% BAC. So 50% BAC is more than 6.5 times str. of Patio Magic.

Works very well and no need to scrub, just leave it to soak into the wood. I usually brush it on to avoid anything running off the teak. It doesn't mark anything but I prefer to use as little as possible . Better for environment and my pocket.

we have tried moss away this year after great results on out deck at home, so far the result has been no cleaning of our teak decks just a gentle spray and leave. no work.

I'm happy enough with Patio Magic as it seems to remain effective for at least a year and I can get 5l delivered for £18. This is then diluted with 4 parts of water. I think that the claimed coverage is around 170 square metres from a 5l container. It is also biodegradable after drying into the wood. The active ingredient is known to be very effective and I'm reasonably certain that it is closely related to the quaternary ammonium biocide in Boracol. It might even be quaternary ammonium benzalkonium chloride.

I believe that Boracol has 2 active ingredients one to kill fungus and mould and the other (Borate) to kill insects as well as fungus and mould. I've found Boracol 5RH (Boracol 10Y) in rest of europe selling at £76.32 (incl. del.) for 5 litres. I believe that it is supposed to be used neat and claimed to last up to 1 years.

So purely as means of controlling mould and as a fungicide we have:

1) £18 for 5 litres Patio Magic (makes 20litres soution) and lasts for 6 months (I've found more like 12+ months).
2) £76 for 5 litres BORACOL 5RH (used neat) and might protect for up to 2 years

I decided to use Patio Magic and have been very happy with the result and I seem to use very little to cover the deck. I'm still only half way through my first 2.5l container after 3-4 years.

I know that I can buy 50% str. BAC (active ingredient in Patio Magic) on eBay but use so little Patio Magic that it hasn't been worthwhile.

Is BORACOL available anywhere for say £30 for 5litres? I might consider it at that price if I can't get hold of any more Patio Magic in another few years.

I'd need to check but am pretty certain that Everbuild Moss Away has the same (or very similar active ingredient used in Patio Magic but strength was much lower (poss. 5% vs. 7.5%). I think that I considered buying this a few years ago but decided to go for Patio Magic as it was stronger and could be bought in a 2.5l container (so cheaper to try it).

Don't use a brush on teak. You'll wreck it.

If you need to clean it before applying boracol (or Wykamol) then use a little fairy liquid in a bucket of warm water (you don't want to freeze your hands) and a sponge. This will be quite enough. Worth investing in rubber gloves such as Marigold or similar.
