I notice that Hawke House do a teak and Holly cabin sole laminate.

It varies in thickness, but I'm interested in the 1mm .

Any experiences ? Fitting , longevity etc

Many Thanks

I've used it. Two years 365 livaboard use and no noticeable wear to date. Easy enough to lay if you are a reasonably competent DIYer. I see you are east coast, try Ipswich Plastics, much cheaper than Hawke.

Just done it - bought from Robbins Timber Bristol, who delivered two sheets of cherry/holly which is an alternative colour Formica-type laminate.

Present boat had similar from new: 12 years of usage including chartering had left some panels very tired, though others still good. Recovered the lot last winter. As the original laminate aws still well glued down just covered over it. Filled nicks and knocks with GRP filler and sanded to key. Gluing down with 5 litre can of Evostik was easy, getting all the stripe lines in line with each other was fiddly. You have to cut and glue oversize and then trim edges with a router bit. A year of considerable use and still looks good: it's certainly harder wearing than real veneer would be.

Start with one central large panel, and with tape work out where the "holly" lines will come on other panels: looks best if you avoid holly on a joint.
