Tea-bags: the need for legislation.

I had to take

300 Yorkshire teabags, 1 kg of Marmite and 5kg of Tesco Value Crunchy Peanut butter to Son 1 who is working in Prague - apparently these basic commodities are unavailable in the Czech republic despite it being over-run with Tesco superstores.

Tea -OK ... but what are the bags made of ????

That's where legislation is needed as there is an almost definite link between the paper reinforcer in the bags and Altzheimers.

Just for the record I use loose leaf tea and a strainer so that we can taste the tea and not the metal thinnings in the paper bags.

As a total aside, did you know that we in GB became the winners in the Industrial Revolution because we drank loose leaf tea?

You are a true skipper. To offer tea imediately is number one priority on the Sea Check sheet<s>

Tea-bags and the Southern Railway

It was my great uncle (by marriage) who was the driver and his son was the stoker on the Southern Railway. I'll tell you a story about them that makes me laugh, anyway. They used to drive a train down Chislehurst way, and after nationalisation they were infested with men in bowler hats (dates it, doesn't it?) who told them how to run their trains. A lot of the drivers wouldn't allow them on the footplate, but he did. Anyway, they get to Hither Green with a big fire roaring and the bowler hat says, 'that's very inefficient, you need a much smaller fire' and forbids the stoker/son to put any more coal on. The driver wags his finger at the son... not a word. Fifteen minutes later they are in Elmstead Woods tunnel and the steam gives out. Uncle Bob turns to the bowler hat and says, 'now what shall we do?' Answer came there none. That's why the tea tasted better. It was made by Englishmen & Irishmen of mettle and was the blood the coursed through the veins of real men in the steam age... oops. I'll probably get canned for that!
Best wishes
John

Re: Disposal.

You'll just have to get your timing right. Going up, seacock open; coming down, seacock closed. Better than having them distributed all over the boat by spinning blades!
