for nosey buggers ONLY

well, it's fairly big and floats, and after few years in the same place got a bit bored in med, so we brought it back from southern france to the UK. Yeah, wife thought the plan was raving mad as well, but fortunately it's been a rain-free heatwave for the last month so i am cleanly off the hook.

Original plan was to take it down to gib from near Nice over Easter, then get a ship to take it from Gib to southampton late April/early May, and then after spring/early summer in the uk we wd drive it back to the med.

The easter trip Nice-Gib was fine with family, went Toulon, Barcelona, Denia, Alicante, Cathagena, Puerto del Este, finally Sotogrande (within 10 miles of Gib)

The transport ship was due with a week of us arriving...but the bluddy thing was late to Gib, then even later, then even later than that and planning for late May/early Jun, so self two other forumites (Burgundyben and Trazie) drove it back near-non-stop from Gib in Mid-may, and it took about 4 days or (after an engine cockup in portugal when the mechanic gave me a bollo*ing for not using the engine very much) it took 60 hours from Vilamoura in Portugal to Portsmouth.

erm, there must be a post with the trip onnit, cept of course since we blammed it, not much to tell. I have detailed knowledge of the fuel docks at Lisbon Cascais in Portugal, La Coruna in NE spain, and Camaret near Brest, France.

I must say that the long-distance trip has made us more ambitious, so over half term we spent five days and went Plymouth, channel islands, Cherbourg and back . A mate came over at the w/e and we went round the Isle of wight, and planning Deauville this weekend. English channel is a bit small innit, really?

Julyish plan to rumble back down to Gib. The insurance policy says we must not be in Biscay after 15th August, which seems as good a target as any.

I think you are up to speed now. Use the "search" for any of the place names should find relevant posts amonst other stuff.

thats brilliant, sounds superb. found a few other bits n pieces on the searching I did.

So given what you have just said, your boat may be a rare sight in the solent !! or anywhere near its short term base. sound like you get above average use out of your boat.
good luck with the trip back

Re: for nosey buggers ONLY

I think it was your big pointy thing I was admiring in Port Solent earlier today (Diana II???). Very impressive...

Glad I've never had to share a lock with it tho' /forums/images/icons/smile.gif
