Very sceptical about that test panel. I'm not convinced that Blakes and the other coatings mentioned would foul that badly in just a few months - if they did, they wouldn't be able to sell the products as anti-fouling, as clearly they do not repel fouling. Products have to be fit the purpose intended, think Trade Desicriptions Act etc. Looks to me like the panel wasn't treated with anything. Also, what is Coppercote - never seen this is the UK, and not available from my local chandlery.

Moving on, if Eco-Sea's Cuprotect doesn't turn green, I can't see it working. Remember, copper itself is not an anti-fouling, its the oxidants and other copper byproducts that actually deter growth - and the degradation required involves the surface changing to green. Hence an efficient copper system such as Coppercoat is green, while such tried and failed systems as CopperClad, CopperGuard, Copperbot 2000 all stayed copper coloured and didn't work. Seems to me that Coppercoat has proven itself and been available for over 10 years (a friend of mine has had it on his Moody in the Hamble since 1994 and has doen nothing more than the usual annua pressure wash), while Cuprotect has only been out a few months - why would anubody wish to take such an expensive gamble? Anyway, from chatting to the man from Trading Standards who visited the Eco-Sea stand at LIBS, Cuprotect does not have HSE approval is illegal!

copperfinger - any commercial interest in the market

hi there. Sounds as if you are involved in the business? Do tell? Without more info - it seems a good sign for ecosea that you are so against their product?!
