Taxis Corfu airport - Gouvia

Taxi Rank !

It was OK last Thursday. I just walked out to the taxi rank near the pool and booked a cab to be at the end of the pontoon (dry end) for 4am the next day. A different driver turned up on time. When we got to the airport he said it was 25 Euros. I told him the other said 20 and thats what I paid. No problems.

the gouvia taxis seem to vary individually between 20 or 25 euros (nothing between) I guess its up to them what they charge and nothing is carved on stone. If its 20 I give a tip, if its 25 , no tip, so tends to work out much the same!
 
Do airport transfer companies like Resort Hoppa not operate on Corfu. Reliable service, online booking and very decent prices.

Never seen resort hoppa here. Try to do that when the taxi drivers are on strike here and they would drag the driver out of the car and beat him up, they call it strike breaking!!
Even the buses werent allowed to pick folk up from the airport, the passengers had to walk up to the dual carriageway and get picked up, private cars OK.
 
We just took a cab to the airport from Gouvia a couple of days ago. The sign is posted for 20 euros. One taxi driver told a guest of ours the fee was 30 euro to the airport. I would never pay more than the posted price even if they asked. Some Greek taxi drivers think they can charge what they can get away with. Just give them the 20 euros and tell them if they have a problem they should contact the tourist police and that you will be in the airport waiting for them to show up. Obviously when they are charging more than the posted price, they will not go to the police demanding more money. It is always best to ask the taxi driver before you get in the car how much it will be.

Our taxi drive also told us the strikes were over until Sept 2. So it looks like you will be ok for the rest of the month.
 
Corfu taxi?

Any update on the rumoured renewal of Corfu taxi strike from 2 Sept? We'll be flying in Tues 6th heading for Gouvia so any updates from someone who knows would be great. Thanks
 
got a taxi from Corfu airport on 30/8 at 1am to Gouvia marina cost 30 euro's. Tourist office in Corfu Town had no knowledge of another taxi strike when we enquired on 29/8.
 
The strike was "suspended" on 5 Aug, pending further dialogue with the government. Some thousands of taxi drivers have been charged for blocking access to key places (Rio bridge, airports, ports) and as a result it is most unlikely that such disruption would recur (source, Athens News).

Meanwhile, as a very rough guide to countryside pricing, think about €1.20 per kilometre. Athens airport from coutryside; 4 hour one way drop off, circa €250. Athens taxis are another matter; supplements for luggage, going to airports and bus stations, phoning for pick-up, and the journey to the pick-up may be charged too!
 
Taxi from airport to Gouvia should be around 20 Euro's. Certainly that is what they charge from the Marina to the airport. No word of the Strike restarting AFAIK.
