Tassimo won't work on inverter

As has been said earlier, great thread with very informative input. Thanks, but with me and I suspect others, it has posed more questions. To run a normal domestic fridge with motorised compressor, which of the three inverter types should be used, Square wave, Modified wave or True sine wave.

If it has a motor it is going to be pretty narked at anything other than pure sine.

Does it damage the batteries drawing such a large load, even though only for a short period of time?
I guess that at some stage, theoretically, it would be possible to have such a large inverter, with full load, that the batteries would effectively be in a dead short when supplying the power?

Edited to add: And going by your figures GLS, with my very crude understanding of electronics (and given no other load on the system other than the inverter losses) that your tassimo is actually drawing over 2KW at 175amps discharge?

I'm not clever enough to make that calculation, however I have always noticed that the best calculations never seem to pan out in the real world operation of such things.

Originally I fitted a 1.6 kva Invertor and by my calculation that should power my 1300w Tassimo, however it did not!

Before I started down this road, like others have stated, there is nothing worse than waking at 6.00am on a fine sunny morning on anchor, wanting a nice cup of coffee, but politeness stops you running the Genset to make it. That was why I fitted the Invertor, plus the battery charger on the boat was very much down on performance, and I finally ended up with the Victron at the same price as a new charger.

I asked on many forums for real world experience on what type and size Invertor would run my coffee machine, and did not get any replies.

So hopefully this thread will be useful for the next person hoping to do the same.

Bottom line, a Tassimo needs 2 kva Pure Sine Wave power to operate successfully. As I have always had a 460 amp hr battery bank on the Domestics, I am not sure the minimum battery bank required to produce coffee, but interesting comment above about running a Tassimo in a Van with the engine running.
