Tarpaulin question again

Hi peeps,

Was going to get a tarpaulin from a local agriculture place..non breathing of course...with careful placing of a gap under the front of the boat do you think these will be OK?? I want to cover the boat for the winter...

the woven wones are wuseless, as they fray and and dribble rainwater through to the inside.

If you can get hold of builders tarps by Monarflex, they are totally waterproof, and have strong point moulded into for ropes.

I cant recall quite which company, but google will list some.
Get it plenty big, so it goes amply down the sides of the boat.
The wind really does get hold of these though, so you really do need to tie it down well.
The other problem is that they are quite abrasive on seats, windscreen tops and gel. Well, maybe abrasive is going to far, but if the wind is constantly flexing the tarpaulin... well you might have some polishing in the Spring. And anything protruding will wear through the tarpaulin.
You also need to be sure that water doesnt start to collect somewhere, as a few hundred litres forming a pool somewhere isnt good! You need to be sure all water WILL flow off.
Dont get me wrong.. we used to do this each year, but it takes need a bit of thought. And its a good idea to keep an eye on the boat over the next 6 months.
We got about two seasons out of a tarp, fyg.
 
If the boats out of the water why not build "A" frames and put the sheet over that, you just need a scaffold pole to go from front to back. I tie it all down and also wedge poles under the sheet sandwiching it between pole and rubbing strake.
