Targa 50 on eBay

According to the eBay ad, "It also has the right engines (the d9 500's struggle to get over 20 knots - and stay for sale for ever because of this!)".
If true, that's not exactly a claim to fame for FL regardless of price, but... hey-ho!

The one advertised has D11s.
Why did they even offer D9s as an option?
They only struggle with the D9s when loaded and with hull growth so don’t make 30 knots which in sports boat world isn’t what owners want. The D11s just have that bit more torque and make it feel more how it should be .
Nothing wrong mush with a D9 boat , you buy what suits you.
Plenty of toys on this one including a big heavy jet rib , not included in the sale .
A nice Looking boat , I walked by it last week .
Must be some business adventure at 400K

Seems strange to me that someone who can afford lots of "TOYS" can't raise £400 k for a venture in a better structured manor, why use your own money.

Maybe up to his borrowing limit already, some people like to live on the upper limit others are more sensible and leave themselves a bit of breathing space so the toys don’t have to go when you need some more cash.

Smacks of desperation, he needs £350 k .
Here why imho -

I don,t like the bigging up stuff like “ black tank “ and “ polished props “ + loads s more std stuff , theses are,t “ extras “ .

They add a reason for sale at this price to smoke screen you psychologically into accepting that price and not twigging they are desperate so they hope you won,t lowball them -much !
It’s a kinda price guard technique ,well that what I see .

So how do you approach this if you do actually want the boat .

1 - start e- mail long range dialogue ask for more pics and the engine / machinery service history’s
2- enquire about berthing ?
3- better Del to somewhere else .
4- make it known that you have a window - now to buy and do what you think it’s needs like fresh AF , engines oil change etc etc .- like there’s a trip landed [ insert date ] to the island and you want it on its new berth before XMAS ,

Then wait
Not long
When he’s finished with the flurry of inevitable fender kickers and dreamers ( still got the boat times running out ) he will contact you asking when you are coming over to have a look and if you move fast , deposit later that day balance v soon within the week it’s yours for as said £350 K as is .

Volunteer to sub some diesel and take a knowledgeable mate if it runs ok buy it .
Point is make out you can complete very early on and will expect ride away almost within a couple of days of visiting once the funds have cleared .
Assuming somebody wants a T 50 .

Now, why am I thinking that what you actually mean is "why on earth should anyone buy a T50 when they could get an Itama instead?" :D :p

Sort of now you raise the subject :encouragement:
No what I mean an experienced moboer will see through the bling , bigging up of the ad .
The ad seems to be aimed at green horn boaters who are easily impressed with “ props cleaned “ wow !

If you don,t know your mobo sports cruiser onions think the only thing that’s comes out of Italy is pasta ,chianti and supercars -walk round with wearing Brit Big Three blinkers after a visit to Sibs on a rainy afternoon dodging the garden furniture then you will probably want one .
It’s a well trodden path :)

It seems that some green horn boater bought the thing while we were debating, since the auction is now ended...

Anyhow, I don't disagree that the ad style was a bit flashy, so to speak.
But what made me laugh is that your previous comments came across (to me, anyway) as addressed to anyone interested in a T50, regardless of the ad.
And while she would never be my cup of tea (since at that size a f/b is much better in pretty much every respect imho), dismissing Targa fans as green horn boaters seems a bit harsh...
Tell that to JtB and Petem, if you dare! :D

I cannot help thinking that if it was a cheap boat the trade would buy it for stock because the main dealers are struggling for boats to sell, so maybe it isn’t worth 400 k never mind the original price.
