Afternoon all .. just after some info / advice

Been using Our T40 alot lately and loving it.. but , when engage gear on starboard engine in forward there is a very long delay sometimes .. not all the time but usually the time when you could do without it happening :o basically all works great on port / forward / reverse and on starboard reverse . the normal 1 second delay but in starboard forward sometimes in takes up to 3 - 4 seconds ..

Kad 300 's . DPG Drives . EDC

any help be great .. cheers :encouragement:

When this happened to my earlier DP drives it was the cone clutch wearing out, it gradually got worse, the wait to engage getting longer.
Fixed by having it re honed (I think that was the term....anyway no new parts were needed though apparently that isn't always the case).
Worth checking the gear linkage adjustment first though.

Hi
Outwith gear linkages having play, it’s entirely likely your drive has taken in water to the gear oil. If they are anything like I think they are (like the 290dp with a cone clutch) it’s a sure fire symptom of water ingress and the cone clutch slipping because of a lessened viscosity or break down of the oil. If it’s like a slipping or delay in engaging, it sounds like this is the problem. Other than that, check the simple things first like the mechanical actuation of the drive. It will be one of the two.
