Targa 40 - Med to UK??

A friend of a friend has a Fairline T40 on the Costa del Sol, but due to business commitments wants it back in the UK for a while.
Any ideas would be welcome on the most efficient way of getting it moved back to Devon plus the names of reliable companies to do the job.

I bought a Broom 39 back from Port St Loius about 5 years ago. Got a few quotes from various company.All the quotes were to fit in with their dates ie return loads. Hainsworth from Yorkshire were the best priced, plus they went on the day I wanted,they loaded it up with out me being there and brought it back without a problem.

Here is something for you that may well perhaps work in .... MY Targa 40 leaves from Essex boat yard on the 1st April and it is due for delivery at Marbella (Cabopino) on or about the 6th April. This could be an excellent back load for the firm that is carrying my boat down as it will have all the gear required.

PM me if he is interested and I will give you all the details....... :D

BTW I've never personally used this company but they are regularily used by EBY.

You could just swap boats? :D
 
It would be interesting to consider the respective costs of shipping versus trucking on that boat between those locations.

Peters & May is one company to speak to on the various options.

Is that Trevor Taylor? He does lots for EBY and did one for me with excellent outcomes i.e all arrived where it was supposed to, when it was supposed to and in the right number of pieces.

At this size afaik trucking is way cheaper. I would guess £12k on a ship, £5k (rack rate not return load discounted) on a lorry, broadly. (One way)
 
hi there i used a company called Anderson boat transport to transport my SS tomahawk from sant carles de la rapitia to Plymouth last year, cant recommend them enough, handled all the transport loading and delivery and I wasn’t present. Even removed all the sun loungers’ cushions and covered up all the navigational equipment without asking. Operates from Cornwall aswell!

I can only advise I was very happy and satisfied defiantly worth a call as I paid considerably less than your quoted 6k for a similar sized boat. It was a return jorney but they are regulary over in spain so chances are you will be able to pick one up between now and then.

It's Andersons doing my haulage outwards so I know feel better given this recommendation .... I've passed your details on to them direct and they should be in touch with you .... Let me know if you don't hear from them......

Anyone know what it might cost to transport a 27ft 3.5 tonnes one way to South of France? Again flexible on dates etc.

About £4k I have heard. ACE can give you the closest indication though - you will be same price as him becuase he is the next size truck up (40foot) but is going further

More generally, excellent decision Wakeup. See you at anchor between the islands :-) Will you be there by easter? We have a bit of a forum cruise going on then [/jumping the gun]
 
For boat movements of this kind we always use two companies so we can compare the cost:

The first is Shoreline Transport run by the extremely professional Terry Ollerton, all they move is boats and they have their own fleet of trucks and custom boat trailers.

Hi JFM. No not yet decided, will look at berth options when I am down there week after next, more likely to be a 2012 move. There are one or two last destinations I want to tick off in the UK this summer before heading for the med.

Do you think it would be viable to do C'dA to Corsica in such a small boat?
