Have noticed more delay on drive take up on our stbd engine over the last week or so. We have manual shift, not EDC. Port engine engages drive with a distinct "clonk" immediately, but stbd engine take a good few seconds to engage and then it seems that the take up is "mushy". Haven't noticed any issue when actually in drive.
Any thoughts as to what the issue might be please?

Outdrives or shafts? If the latter is the box oil level ok? If you select the gear at the box end rather than lever is it different?

Thanks guys
I'm on shafts. Gearbox oil is fine. Haven't tried selecting at gearbox end yet, but I don't think the cable is stretched

It's a TAMD63, so inboard only (for those who mentioned about O/D).

What transmissions do you have? I would start with an oil change, and if mine, I'd be inclined to very carefully inspect a sample of oil, or have it sent for analysis. Put a sample in a clear container and look for metallic particles in it.

Sorry to say, but if it's been getting worse steadily then something is wrong. Start with the gear cable as mentioned, if it's not that then it may be an internal issue.

Clean the inlet strainer , hex plug rear of casing below pump

Just in case I have a problem in the future VP, you mention the strainer/ hex plug below the pump. Which pump please so I can find it ? Thanks
