The oil pressure reduction/bypass valve is leaking from about halfway up, looks as if it's in two halves and assume there's a gasket or seal of some type there?
Anyone know how to rectify it?
It feels as if there may be a large bolt underneath the thing, just wondering if splitting the casing is a simple matter of removing the bolt (he asked, hopefully)

Just o rings between the segments , also o rings on the central shaft . On some boats if room allows you can do away with it all and screw the oil filter direct to the housing , I’ve done this when the housing has corroded and won’t seal after stripdown .

Brilliant, thanks both. There's not enough room to screw the filter straight on unfortunately, and the remote location of the filter does make it easy to get to.

Looking at adey's very useful link, removing screw#23 would split the two caps so the O rings could be replaced I assume?

Hi
Actually I have just done this to my port engine.
Unbolted entirely from engine dismantled and refitted with new O-rings/gaskets.
Also one of the Manifolds was corroded and renewed. I had to renew tubes and pipes as well, but got this from a (friend free of Charge).
If you look at the partlist the cost for the O-rinks/gaskets is nothing, but for the pipes and tubes the Prices are insane. If needed - try any hydraulic Company - that will cost a lot less !!!
Good Luch

Thanks Piratos, very helpful :)

Does undoing the bolt on the bottom separate the casings to fit new O rings? I'm really hoping to be able to do it in situ as it will be difficult to remove where it is.

well yes - when you undo the bolt at the bottom you can pull down the two caps (number 19 in the exploded view) BUT you will Need to take off the tubes and pipes going to the filter/Bypass filter, and that was the tricky part for me. I endet up with new tubes and pipes.

Gotcha, thanks very much for the reply :)

EDIT: Just been looking again, I thought you meant pipe part# 20 which, I agree, is insanely expensive but couldn't quite see how it would be in the way.
On reading your post again, and looking more closely, I see it's actually those rubber hoses, part#12 @ £315.00 each!!!!! How on earth can they possibly be worth any more than a tenth of that!

I had a moment of staring at the screen thinking no, I must have been wrong when I was looking for a cap for the sea water strainers.......£189 each....luckily they don't fit and Matthew Riches made four up for me at a great price.

Sweet Jesus... I wonder what the mark-up actually is?

Also, not the greatest news, I need two new ones!!

Murv,

for the replacement pipes, try HA HA just off Forstal road in Aylesford ( Think its up the side of the Waitrose warehouse), link below. Have used them a couple of times and have got to get my power steering hose replaced, VP Price £260...….ouch!

The prices quoted are in Euros and include VAT, so a bargain really :)

:D

Get in touch with matthewriches on this forum, I sent him the dimensions and he made them and posted them over.

Thanks for that, I'll do that :)

Thanks Dave, there is actually a really good hydraulics supplier down the road, they supplied me with some rubber hosing for the price of a drink but if they can't sort this, I'll certainly try Ha ha.

I seem to remember on the medway trading estate was a hydraulic company. Ahearn or Pertek. Take your old pipe and end fittings, give them considerably less money and walk away with some nice new shiny pipes
