Hi Nick.
I'm guessing either. I should have closed this thread out with the bad news that in my case it turned out to be the HG. After changing the exhaust gaskets my leak remained at WOT. Removal of the head revealed a compromised spot on the gasket beside the first cylinder.
I had heard from many that it was a weak point on the 41As bit later models had a better gasket?
You could try the exhaust gaskets first as it's off already and hope for the best but more knowledge folk than I might have different ideas.
