TAMD 75 EDC problem

After living with this problem I am convinced the problem is in the loom connections. I thought I had cracked it and went for 18 months without a problem. It has now com back.
New looms are no longer available.
I think that I am going to cut bypass one Volvo harness connection at a time and directly solder the cable together.

They fitted an SPM it’s a warranty recall but the unit was or still is out of production, this was to eliminate false gear shifting .

2/7 sounds like a break in the wires to either gearbox solenoid, check to see if your engines have had the wiring mod at one of the 2 eight pin edc loom connectors, they are the ones side of exhaust manifold near the black electrical box , you will see if mod carried out 3 of the 8 wires cut from the plug and mounted with crimp connections, over the years they become loose and require the job repeating .
I know from my previous boat with the 75 p engines in I used to get this fault code .

The manual I have says code 2.7 is "No signal from the control potentiometer. Check control potentiometer wiring and connections to control position."
Do you think this is incorrect/could be gearbox solenoid wiring?

I climbed around the engines over the weekend and couldn't find any crimp connections. Attaching some pics of the starboard side:

I believe previous owner installed some deutsch connectors but that's all I can see. Do you see anything in these photos that are known issues/could be improved?

The 2 of 8 pin plugs have been removed , looks a nice job .

Hi, I have had the same issue on my Portside engine in the past. I have replaced actuators and solenoids, fitted a Volvo component into the wiring harness that was supposed to rectify the problem, swapped ECU’s from starboard engine, rewired connections etc. after much consultation with many experts, a Volvo mechanic asked me when I last isolated the engines? I said I never do. After turning the isolation switch off for a while and rebooting the ECU the problem has never showed up again!
