Hi all,

We have decided to take the boat to France (by trailer) for a month next year and have rented a Villa near Les Issambres.

I have taken a boat down to Port Grimaud several times and previously we have rented properties with a berth at the end of the garden, however as we are there for a bit longer and taking the dogs with us we opted for a bit more space away from the water.

I've obviously sent out some messages to the local marinas on the map, but I wondered if anyone has been to anywhere around here and has any tips / thoughts etc... If in doubt I will just stick it in Port Grimaud, but I know the coast road can be challenging to say the least.

The boat is a Beneteau Antares 7 OB, so its 7.5m long and 2.5m wide.

All advice welcome.

Thanks

Paul

You’ll need a carnet for the boat and any moveable equipment now we’ve left the EU and may need to register the trailer (see relevant government website)

Do you have a link?

Googling it, I'm not sure it applies to holiday makers... most of the information appears to be around importing goods or if the boat is going to be there up to 18 months. Although it will be a longer holiday than usual, its essentially just a Month of being on holiday. So I am not importing the boat and the VAT stuff won't apply as I will be taking it back with me.

All that said I could have missed the point completely as its clear as mud :)

I know what you mean about the coast road and I have only been down there slightly out of season! I think the key question may be that does the Villa you are renting have enough room to store the trailer? - Space on the hard is at a premium in the smaller marinas around there so if they don't need to look after the trailer then they are much more likely to be able to accommodate you.

Not sure the time period matters. Pretty sure when I checked it was needed to tow daughters RSAERO to Lake Garda for 7/8 days

I have probably got or can get hold of the number for the place I’ve left the trailer at before. Their English is about as good as my French and initially I wasn’t sure if I’d just paid him €100 to take my trailer off my hands permanently or just look after it. The “dogzilla” creature guarding the place left me feeling it was safe to the point that I may well never go and get it if that meant I didn’t need to come face to face with that again lol

That said there does appear to be enough room at the villa, but at least I know where to go if in a pinch and got a slight death wish lol
