Cruise Reports Taking our yacht to Sweden for the summer - any 50m marinas?

Challenger 600. Looks a bit tired in that photo, cheap jet though.

We'll see. The up front price tag isn't the major hurdle. I need it for about 200-500 hours of flight time over the next 9-18 months, so it may work out. Just out a holding deposit on it while she gets her inspections done. But for now, is it okay if we be a little more discrete about actual details? Happy to talk about things after the time is right. Again, I could have easily sent liknks to the brokerage firm, but I didn't.

For a reason. If it's okay with the herd, could we please keep this on the down low until I send a general invite for custard and cruise report?

That's a photo I put in Facebook (thanks for removing it Alf :) ) Specifically chosen as it was hardish to see the registration number). If it's okay, can we remove number plates/registration numbers, and other links. Else I'll just go back to not sharing live information. Which would be less fun. But more sensible...!

For crying out loud.......If you want it low key then keep your mouth shut.

Drip fed BS for the masses.

Think I'll leave you to it and follow something more believable.
Flatearth. Com sounds inviting.

Thanks Lloyd,

See you over at FlatEarth.com :encouragement:

For the readers still here, I'm just asking people to be a little careful, please. I'm keen to share, but not more than I'm comfortable with. I don't mean to offend anyone, but ships and planes are tracked everywhere - and posting registration numbers are like enabling satellite tracking for your car to be placed on Google Earth...

I've not yet organised for private listings on the plane. Hence the secrecy. To be fair, I don't really understand why some of this rubs people up the wrong way. But I apologise for it, anyway.

Thanks for all the PMs of support - I appreciate knowing that I'm not annoying everyone!

For what it's worth, this is my social outlet; which is otherwise limited due to my work schedule. So thanks for all those who are being nice during the process. :)

PS - the boat is almost in Riga. Excitement!!

:) No escaping !! ..... from our corporate information brief which I give to our customers relatively frequently when we talk about capability .. ;

"We manage 80 percent of the world’s oceanic traffic and 60 percent of the world’s air traffic....."

Not saying any more, but .... Yup ... nearing Riga ..... ETA around 9 AM local time tomorrow I believe ... :)

It's chugging along at about 8-9 knots...

Nice and safe for the first trip in a long while...!

That's okay. But it's not like a destroyer, or one of the fast patrol boats we had lined up that could actually do 30+ knots. I'm really excited, that the big boat is actually going to be parked next to them, the two high-speed boats that were mentioned in the Reuters Article. So all three boats will actually be together. #PhotoOp!!

This is the first time. The tanker (for conversion) and the transports.

What a cool coincidence. :)

The hull speed is a little over 16kn or so. It takes 5,000 hp to get her there. 4,000 HP to get her to 15 knots, and 2,000 hp to get to 12.

She has 2,600 HP installed, with both the front and middle thrusters, which can push her sideways at 7 knots, or forward at 13 knots.

On the main engine alone, it's an economic 8-10 knots. 500hp at 7.5 knots and 650hp at 8.5knots. 900hp at 9 knots.

5000 HP is about 20 tonnes of diesel per day. For 3 days, is +60,000l.

750 HP is about 3,000 liters per day, for 5 days, is 15 cubes. Slower crew run at about €1,000/day so the two extra days, saved close to £20,000 as well as being prudent, given all the equipment is being used for the first time in at least the 18 months I've had it.

Wow thats pretty impressive figures 13 knots on bow and mid thrusters so is that 13knots on the thrusters with 2600hp and 16knots on the main engine with 5000hp.
Where do the thrusters get their drive from?
Now understand why plodding thats alot of fuel.

The thrusters are direct drive from 800hp Volvo's. Each.

The thrusters are ducted, 360° swivel units from schottel. So I should call them forward and center thrusters. The bow-thruster is new, that a tunnel drive for lateral force only. The forward and center thrusters draw an additional 2.2m so can't really be used in most harbours we want to visit... Hence the new bow unit. Which is beautiful. And electric. And runs of either the forward or aft generators. Not hydraulic, which was an option.

:)

She's safely in Riga now. Not sure why the positioning stopped. Maybe is was after the last privacy conflict here. :) Maybe the GDPR kicked in, and doesn't make it so public anymore. Heheheehe.

Just had a mooch as late night here and bored. The plane you are considering is VERY cheap and there has to be a reason behind that. What range do you need and how many pax? All it's cert's are out of date too.

There's a bit. It was to fly between Kiribati, Tuvalau, Tonga, Samoa, Nauru, American Samoa ... 12 countries across the Pacific where there aren't regulator scheduled flights. This one can carry 9.

Charter is circa $200k USD for a month, plus fuel. For us, it's a nice thing. Kind of like art. That we could use to to what we need in the next 5 months, then keep it as a souvenir of this moment in time.

If it's viable.

At that price i don't blame you, it's a no-brainer. I doubt it would take that much for it to be air worthy again. Time is money and a private jet helps bridge that gap with convenience. :encouragement::cool:

Registry says it's 13 seats and it looks like all certs are in date after all. Post pics when you get her :encouragement::cool:

It's also the same age as me, and 10 years younger than my boat.

But much shinier. And would look cool in a she'd for the next 50 years. You know... "My first jet".. lols.
