RIP
Looks like theres no point in writting about epic voyages in small boats. Brenden's put paid to that! So better just thank Sandra for the tea! It was funny, driving down the M5 and asking Tutts to phone Lanson. Whats he called, she said. Hm. Well he's been called so many things. I cant remember. Ask for Sandra, I says. So she did when Adrians SWMBO answered!!
Anyway, after reading LJ's ann Brendans posts from earlier in the week, I thought I wound rattle on about going no where, well nearly no where.
Toodled round to Satcolmbe as like they said. Was thinking of lending Brandan Mucky Farters tender for his return trip tut Solent. Least its rubber and wont sink!
Then one day we went on an epic voyage from Brixham to Torquay, a distance all of three and a half miles. Then next day, on LJS recomend. Went to err? Buttercome? anyway whatever. It's got a little harbour and more importantly, a pub. The Cary Arms. It was a glorious day. But with just a little mist in the distance. Now I'd just been rereading Cumbridge on cruising,. The bugger was saying how easy it was, to go from Brixham to Dartmouth in fog. Well listen here Mr Cutherbridge. Dartmouth was just where we were heading from Butcum. Anyway we sets off with a big growel from muckies engine and sets off in the general direction. On the way theres this bloody great rock. At least there should have been! Twas just then that we stopped dead. Fog, everywhere. So I goes down stairs, leaving Tutts up the crows nest as lookout. Switches on the radar and puts course into plotter. And there it was. A big blob on the radar screen, So scooting round the big blob, theres millions of little blobs going in every direction. Then loads of blobs stood still. Having said that. With my forever course changes, missing blobs, some rocks, some boats and some buoys i presume?? I had not really time enough to stick with the radar to see which were moving and which not! We desided that it was much simpler and less stress, to go the two miles or so, back to Torquay rather than strugggle through an assalt course of trip boats, ferrys, fishy boats, lost jet skiers and rubber dinghies. I only missed Torquay harbour by 25yds. Before stopping and taking eyes off the bloody screens long enough to see. We were back in glorious sun shine again!!
And never minding LJ's snide remark about us needing lecy fix. We never saw none all week, but did find that the harbour masters jetty in Torquay, not only did not have water or electric, but was free. So stayed two nights on account of the fog.
