Re: Conspiracy theory....
The hunting ban is a piece of class warfare, as several Labour MPs have admitted. I remember in 1975 or so, Labour MPs cheering and laughing when a special 25% VAT rate was imposed on everything to do with leisure boating, which they, in their ignorance of the number of people with boats like Mirror dinghies and small Hurley sailing cruisers, thought was the province of the rich. It's not acceptable to hate someone because of their skin colour (quite rightly), but totally OK to hate people on left-wing class hatred grounds. Labour MPs' absolute ingnorance of everything outside politics is manifest - I heard one on the radio saying that dogs could be trained to ignore hares but chase rabbits!
Appeasing the anti-hunt lobby will just encourage these nutters to move on to shooting and fishing, and eventually to attacking the eating of meat and keeping pets. Don't think I'm joking here, the animal rights extremists regard keeping pets as a form of slavery. Appeasement never works with Fascist totalitarians, as we found out in the 1930s, it merely whets their appetite.
I was brought up in the country, and live in the country, and to me, hunting, shooting and fishing are a normal part of life, and not just for the upper classes.
About criminals and voting - in the USA, the Democrats are pushing for convicts in prison to be allowed to vote, since they know that the vast bulk of the criminal dregs of society would vote Democrat. The areas of our big cities with the highest density of ex-convicts vote solidly Labour, so I doubt if this lot will change the law here to ban people with criminal records from voting.
