So that means that replacing the battery pack isn't possible then? Sorry Raymarine sell it as a spare, and as I said earlier on I replaced the battery pack in my wind transmitter this winter, and it's working fine...
Well they might sell the battery separately, I don't know, but the unit the OP has is over 2 years old so very likely one of the original lot that had a problem which is what I said originally. You said yourself you had an earlier faulty unit replaced so why do you continue arguing? I said in my post that Raymarine claim they have now solved the problem with later units. This is very probably an earlier one that needs replacing also. Obviously I don't KNOW this but I offered it originally as a POSSIBLE reason.
I repeat, I had a faulty unit originally which Raymarine said was not repairable. This was replaced with a new one which also failed and was replaced. Do you think Raymarine would have replaced them if they could have just replaced the battery pack, or don't you think they know what they are talking about either? These earlier units, if left in their box for long enough for the batteries to die dump the software. Replacing a battery won't restore them, but I am not going to continue arguing with you, I have expressed my opinion which the original OP has I am sure read. If you have a different opinion then so be it.
Boatmike out.
