synthetic teak decking

Have just had Flexiteek fitted to the cockpit of our Hunter Pilot 27, and first impressions are good. Also had positive feedback from a fellow HP27 owner who had cockpit and deck done.

We preferred Flexiteek to Tek-Dek having seen both at the SBS and thinking Flexiteek had a better colour. Ours was fitted by the distributors, Wardle Marine Services, which I'd recommend unless you're fairly handy with such things.

Surface not only looks reasonably teak-like (fooling one recent visitor) but has a good non slip feel to it. Obviously our installation is very new and it will be interesting to see how it is over the next few seasons, but first impressions are good.

Hope this helps.

I removed a cork deck a few months ago and am currently undecided whether to go for Tek Dek/ Flexitek or a painted deck.

Having received loads of advice and opinions I am leaning towards deck paint.

Certainly a cork finish is out it looked and felt like carpet, it was spongy and led prospective buyers to worry about the deck core.

Good luck with your decision. If you make it to the Boat Show.
perhaps you would let me have any relevant quotes/ boatshow specials you come across.

Tony.

remove all gear you can or it will look terrible

Not necessarily. If you lay right up to a fitting then cut round it leaving a 6mm gap when all is set, you can fill the gap with liquid caulking. Then it looks great!

Better than risking leaks from disturbing fittings.
