Yes only been open for a couple of weeks but pretty special eh!!!

I take it that you decided on Levington instead of Ipswich - or are you doing both?

Not yet tried the new shower block despite having boat based at SYH as we normally go somewhere overnight now rather than day sail. Shower on the boat is very nice (pumped to holding tank) so no real need for the long walk.

Good try. But as usual not enough hooks -one? Design of cubicles includes horrible dirt traps so they will be shabby in 12months. Lack of forethought ie; no door mat at entrance so you transit from gravel and dirt to the new shower block floor, result dirty floor.
Half way there with the squeedy mops but you actually need one in every cubicle.
I have been at SYH for three days and while I agree that the heated seats are a great innovation why are they on currently? It is too hot in there. More importantly why did the hot water run out halfway through my shower tonight?
I was involved in design of instutional facilities for years and cannot understand why marinas do not get better advice and more importantly, user feedback on design of facilities. I'd give them 9/10 short term and 3/10 long term.

Thanks for the feedback - did you take your views to the harbourmaster?

Your point about hooks has already been noted - it was me that got the extra row of hooks put up In the eastern shower block as it seems I'm the only director who actually uses the facilities. Extra hooks will take some thinking about with all the glass, but we'll find a way.

Good point re doormats, we'll fix that.

Why not a squeegee for each cubicle? they're not particularly pricey items compared to project cost

You're the first to complain about the heated seats - most folk, and particularly the ladies, seem to think they're great.

Hot water running out part way through a great disappointment, we'll look into that - it just shouldn't happen.

A reputable architect did the design, so we did take advice from someone who ought to know about these things. With your help, we'll make them better and feed the lessons into the next 2 projects.

As a regular user of the West harbour facilities (and not even a trailer sailor!) I can confirm that the rail is actually constructed from galvanised steel tube. We find the block perfectly comfortable, but look forward to any upgrade to a standard approaching the new block. In the meantime, could the broken window frame be fixed?
