It is difficult to give constructive help without knowing more detail about bother the transom design and the design of platform especially points of attachment. Is it a platform especially designed for your boat or are you taking a standard item and modifying it to fit? You may have to strengthen the boat transom in the areas of attachment as well as glass in pads etc . How do you propose to cope with the leverage of the cantelever load element. I doubt if the transom is anywhere near having sufficient scantlings for such a load. You have to take into account the total loads of dinghies people etc that may be involved by you and future owners. The easy way out is to install supports from the transom deck level to the outer edge of the swim platform. With all loaded points suitably reinforced.

I have seen well designed swim platforms added and designed to convert the boat to a sugar scoop design . This design takes care of the load issues as the swim platform of this design is supported almost from deck level at one side to a similar position on the other so this u shaped connection to the boat reduces concentrated loads. Recently a steel yacht was modified in this way by the owner with amazing results and improvements to the appearance of the boat.

You will need to identify suitable people to carry out this work to satisfy your surveyor and insurance company.

We have a Moody30 and put a Plastimo bathing platform across the transom with steps up the transom. Plastimo davits on the coaming and an emergency ladder under the platform. We keep our boat on a mooring so it is used all the time. Best thing we ever did. Make sure bolts are glassed over as they spend much of their time under water.

A comment on bilgediver's post is that I've seen several swim platform installations with struts underneath so that it is not cantilevered from the transom. The forces are thus mainly downward sheer so extensive reinforcement of the transom is not required.
