We had a good look at the 34 at SIBS too. Very spacious boat, loved the side door from the helm which means you can actually stand on the side deck and con the boat into a narrow space using the bow and stern thrusters. The settee making up straight into a double bed was excellent. felt comfortable too when sitting on the settee.

Just let down by the poor finishing and fixtures all round the boat

I would agree with that RIN but say fixtures are typically Beneteau. It is a lot of boat for the money (34) but it isn't a Princess or other top line model but then if were the price would be much higher, functional is probably an apt description. From the drawings the bit that does look out of place on the 30 is the pole to hold the Radome.

On Beneteau's website the measurements are given as LOA = 999cm (32' 9"), hull length including platform overhang = 958cm (31' 5") and beam = 353cm (11'7"). Deducting the platform overhang (assuming the drawing on the website is reasonably accurate) it seems the actual hull length is only around 28' 6" with a waterline length around 27'

I think the drawing includes the "optional big platform", which takes LOA to 10.39m. The standard bathing platform looks tiny.

A second look reveals you might be correct. In that case the length of the actual hull is very closer to 30'

I assume it is entirely intentional Beneteau keeps the ISO-8666 length just short of 10m. even with the optional extended platform. I don't see any reason there should be both a short and long platform when the difference is only 40 cm...... other than as a "justification" for charging extra for what everyone will want anyway, of course

We have just returned from the Paris Boat Show where the ST 30 was just released with a price of 200k in Euros.
It looks great, seems to be a lot of boat for your money.The one we saw had front and rear thrusters and we were told by Beneteau that they are looking to add davits for a tender.

Whilst it may be a good boat, it's no more a trawler yacht than I am Mr Universe! I'm not sure exactly what section of the market they are hoping to appeal to.

Having owned an Antares 9.80, with the sliding transom and a Swift Trawler 44. This looks like a good mix of both,perfect for a couple and occasional overnight guests.

I can understand there might be a fixed commissioning fee nominated in £, but dealer margin and VAT certainly should follow the € value down...... unless the dealer increased his/her margin? Dealer margin and VAT are merely percentages added to any £ figure derived from the € import price.

Agreed. The commisioning fee will be a very small % of the purchase price so all other elements of the purchase price should vary according to the exchange rate unless of course the UK dealer has considered a fixed Sterling margin in the price but this is unlikely.

Its not for nothing that some importers refer to the UK as Treasure Island. For reasons I've never really been able to understand, many products cost more in the UK than they do in other markets
