Thank you for your hard work.

It does make me realise what a joy it must be to be multi-lingual.

I can understand Scots fine but struggle with teh Englishh as spokken down South. Does this make me half bi-lingual or am I just glad to be Scottish.

Got that right about 60% after reading the Swedish paper. Don;' speak or read that (beautiful) language, but a background in Dutch, German and a couple of English words helps....

Can't make fried potatoes outa the Finish text but knew that upfront.....

Good to hear everyone is quit safe. Hope the boat isn't damaged too much....

It is a waste of time and it annoys the pig.

Being multi-lingual is not that fun if you can't bill anyone for the work :) As for the Finnish text, I have no idea what it means either, I just copied it from an Finnish newspaper...it's probably about something completely different.

As for the case itself: A Gothenburg based newspaper just posted a new article with some interesting facts. No, I won't translate this one!! But I will post the link and a summary.

The article states that the navy helicopter who rescued the people also put a pump on the boat which apparently kept enough of the water out. The yacht is now in Peterhead.

Also, and now the interesting part starts, the yacht did not have a license and registration for charter traffic. Swedish authorities are investigating and the owners will probably be put to trial.
Additionally this is the third time the boat has trouble with hull leaks!! In 2002 authorities did a safety inspection on the boat and encountered 18 issues. Amongst those were instruments not working, life belts without lights, front hatch opening facing wrong direction, and fire equipment missing.

The Anna Karlsson girl (still no photo) is quoted again, this time she states that they did have fixed the safety issues and that their insurance company was informed and had no issues with the boat being used in charter traffic without proper licensing.
She also makes a political statement, that the law is written for big ships and does not encourage small yachts being used commercially - or something like that.

Here's the link for the linguists:

You*****. I had a crack at translating it, and couldn't work out why it had nothing to do with yachts and thought I was going mad! /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif
